# Vertical 9:16 safe zone guide

## How to use it

1. Pick a **preset**, or type a custom **width** and read the computed 9:16 height.
2. Enter any **width and height** to check the ratio and see the nearest 9:16 crop.
3. Adjust **top, bottom and side margins** to match where you post.
4. Read the **safe box pixel values** and keep your subject inside the box.
5. Use the **scaled preview** to eyeball the composition.

## Questions

**What counts as 9:16?**

A size is 9:16 when width ÷ height equals 9 ÷ 16 (0.5625). For example 1080 × 1920 and 720 × 1280 are both exactly 9:16. The checker tells you whether a size matches and, if not, the nearest 9:16 crop.

**Where do the safe-zone margins come from?**

The default 14% top, 20% bottom and 6% sides are a conservative rule of thumb for keeping important content clear of overlaid UI. They are not an official spec from any platform — adjust them to match where you plan to post, and leave headroom.

**Why keep things inside the safe box?**

Short-form apps lay captions, handles, buttons and progress bars over the edges of a vertical video. Keeping your subject and any text inside the safe box means it stays visible after that interface is drawn on top.

**Does this tool send my sizes anywhere?**

No. The checker and preview run entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, and it is free to use.
